Trip advisor Quotes

"The bunkhouse is large, comfortable and has really good facilities – five bathrooms in total plus a good kitchen etc."

"The presence of 3 fridges, 2 dishwashers etc showed that we were a group on the small side."

"With an over abundance of quality cooking pots and pans, a large cooker, 2 dishwashers and cafetieres, we will find it difficult to improve on this place. Even the kitchen knives were sharp."

"Fantastic amenities offering splendid views"

Rach and Phil have stayed in Bunkhouses all around the UK and have tried to incorporate as many of the good things in Felldyke as possible, however if you think they have missed something, let them know.

Floor Plan

We have invested in the right level of equipment to allow a large number of people to be catered for easily, which includes: an 8 gas ring range cooker with 2 fan ovens; 2 x 12 place setting Dishwashers; a larder fridge and a second under the counter fridge; an under the counter freezer; and, plenty of food storage, chopping boards, large pans and sharp knives.  Hopefully this will keep your beer cold, your food hot and your fingers intact.

There is cutlery, crockery and glasses to cater for a full house.....plus a friend or two.

If you want get some help with the catering ask and we can put you in touch with somebody.

For rainy days or lazy evenings there is a lounge.  It's equipped with big comfortable sofas; a gas fire / stove and a TV / DVD player.  There's also art by a local artist.  Every picture has a tiny nude figure in, see if you can spot them.

Heating and Hot Water

Centrally heated, double glazed and beautifully cosy, Felldyke has a modern gas boiler and a enormous hot water tank, so we're pretty sure that you'll never have to return to a cold shower after a day on the fells.

Bunk Rooms and Bed Spaces

23 bed spaces in three bunk rooms.   The upstairs accommodation is in 2 separate bunk rooms, each containing 10 beds.  Each upstairs room also has privacy dividers, which prevent sight lines through the room.  Downstairs there is separate disabled accessible room for 2-3 people, with an adjacent wheelchair compatible bathroom.  The downstairs room is Ideal for leaders and teachers, should separate accommodation from a group be required.

All bed spaces have a side light, for reading; and, all bunks and mattresses comply with fire regulations for commercial properties.   These should provide a comfortable nights sleep after a hard day on the fells.

4 Separate single occupancy shower rooms have been provided upstairs, which include a low profile shower and glass enclosure, sink, toilet and heated towel rail.

Downstairs the shower room complies with the requirements for disabled access and includes a 1.8m x 0.8m wheelchair accessible shower tray and ancillary screens for carers to assist in bathing if required.

Adjacent to the kitchen is an open plan area that can be arranged as each group wishes.  Tables and chairs for dining / relaxing are provided.  As arranging and planning for groups can be complex, we have also installed a white board and a few pens, to leave messages, tasks or just to play games on.

Drying Facilities

Immediately adjacent to the front door is a drying cupboard, fitted with a dehumidifier and radiator. This has been established to allow dirty / wet clothes and footwear to be removed and begin drying  as soon as you enter the building.
